Wally Gurka Memorial Service

This Saturday, October 10, there will be a Memorial Service in honor of the beloved Wally Gurka at Cathedral of Praise from 10:30 am – 12:30 pm. Wally’s family has been invited to celebrate his life with us.

Order of Service – We plan to sing some songs that Wally liked. Pastor Gene Doyle is scheduled to sing Wally’s favorite song, “Where Would I Be Without Jesus”. Everyone will be invited to share testimonies of things you remember about Wally. We will gather outside to unveil the memorial marker set under the tree that Wally planted many years ago. Presbyter Gene Summers, will share how Wally came to plant the tree.

We will fellowship afterward with a meal provided by our Women and Men’s Ministries.

Megan is developing a slide show for the service. She would like anyone who has pictures of Wally to contact her by phone 832-566-4749 or mdjordan88@hotmail.com.

Let’s have a good showing to share our memories of Wally with his family,

In His love and service,

Pastor Ronnie Jordan

Youth / Kid’s Fundraiser

As I sit in my office here at the Children’s Assessment Center I am reflecting on how blessed I am. On this very day 30 years ago I started the police academy. God has seen fit to overshadow me and carry me through some very challenging circumstances to a place of utter amazement.

I have been afforded the opportunity to shepherd some of His choice children. I looked over that packed fellowship hall last evening and remembered how just a few short years ago we only had a few people gathering at Cathedral. But then God blessed and has been adding to the Church daily. What an awesome job Bro. and Sis Brown and all of the support staff did to host such a great “Fiesta Party” fundraiser.

This was a major means to help fund our Youth and Kid’s Programs. We are still in need of sponsors to help the kids and youth go to camp this summer. This is a great way to not only show your support, but to invest in the spiritual future of the next generation. See Bro. John Brown if you would like to sponsor a young person.

Thank you for your love for God and His cause,

Pastor Ronnie

Two urgent prayer requests

Harold Doney’s mother, Sis. Opal, has been given a report that there is a 95% probability that she has cancer in both lungs.

Evangelist Reed Gipson has been sent home from the hospital with inoperable aneurisms.

In the natural these appear to be impossible tasks to be undertaken. That’s why we depend on Jesus, the One who heals SUPERNATURALLY.

“Lord Jesus, we need a miracle. Opal needs a complete healing in these lungs where a report shows cancer. Lord, remove any sign or symptom of any tumor or shadow of abnormality in these lungs. It is in Jesus’ wonderful name that we pray, AMEN!”

“Jesus, you love your servant Reed Gipson. He has dedicated his life to serve you. Honor him Lord with a healing from on high. Open up the blood flow and dissolve any indication of blood stoppage causing aneurisms. Only you sweet Jesus can heal him. Do it again Lord. In that name above all others, JESUS!”

Watchnight Service – December 31 8pm

Cathedral will host a New Years Eve Watchnight Service. We are asking everyone who attends to bring a dish of your choice to share with everyone else. We will eat at 8pm, have music, testimonies, the Word, Communion, and be in Prayer at the midnite hour. Invite your friends. This will be a great, safe, and spiritual opportunity to jumpstart the New Year.

Vacation Bible School

Vacation Bible School, August 4-8, 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., grades K-7.  We are asking everyone to pray for God’s plan to be fulfilled for VBS, for children in the community to attend VBS, that our church effectively communicate God’s love and gospel to the children so many will accept Jesus, and for all needs to be supplied. We will be having a CAR WASH this Sunday, July 27 a.m. service to assist with the cost of VBS. Thank you church members for your support and prayers for the children in our church and in the community.

This Sunday

Sunday we will share in Communion. We will begin a new endeavor starting this month. The 1st Sunday of the month will be designated as the time to celebrate Birthdays for the month. We will also have a fundraiser meal on each 1st Sunday.

Brother Pat Smith will coordinate the meal which consists of Ham, potato salad, veggies, and desserts. Please help us raise much needed funds for our various departments and come to fellowship with your Church family. We are asking for a donation of $6.00 for adults, and $3.00 for children.

Please remember all in need of prayer. Sisters Elsie (foot surgery), Selma (fall), Bonnie (knee surgery to be done Wed. morning), Karen (total healing from cancer) and Brothers Charlie, Darrell, Zack, and Charles Davenport for the homegoing of his brother, Harold.
